چکیده

A recent survey [1] has indicated an increasing usage of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) route selection for interAutonomous System (AS) Traffic Engineering (TE) in response to changes in network conditions [2] such as traffic load and link capacities. The objective of inter-AS outbound TE is to control the flow of traffic exiting an AS, through optimal BGP route selection [3], so as to optimize inter-AS TE objectives. Common inter-AS TE objectives are, for example, to satisfy inter-AS link capacity constraints, to achieve interAS traffic load balancing, and/or to minimize peering cost. The most common technique to implement inter-AS TE is by configuring routing protocol policies or metrics such as BGP local preferences (local-pref) and Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) link weights for hot-potato routing. In short, we call this BGP-based TE in this paper.

User-based Vehicle Route Guidance in Urban Networks Based on Intelligent Multi Agents Systems and the ANT-Q Algorithm

Guiding vehicles to their destination under dynamic traffic conditions is an important topic in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Nowadays, many complex systems can be controlled by using multi agent systems. Adaptation with the current condition is an important feature of the agents. In this research, formulation of dynamic guidance for vehicles has been investigated based...

An Integrated Network Management Framework for Inter-domain Outbound Traffic Engineering

This paper proposes an integrated network management framework for inter-domain outbound traffic engineering. The framework consists of three functional blocks (monitoring, optimization and implementation) to make the outbound traffic engineering adaptive to network condition changes such as inter-domain traffic demand variation, inter-domain routing changes and link failures. The objective is ...

A neuro-fuzzy approach to vehicular traffic flow prediction for a metropolis in a developing country

Short-term prediction of traffic flow is central to alleviating congestion and controlling the negative impacts of environmental pollution resulting from vehicle emissions on both inter- and intra-urban highways. The strong need to monitor and control congestion time and costs for metropolis in developing countries has therefore motivated the current study. This paper establishes the applicatio...

A Robust Model for a Dynamic Cellular Manufacturing System with Production Planning

In this paper, a robust optimization approach is proposed to design a dynamic cellular manufacturing system (DCMS) under uncertainty of processing time of products. In addition, a mathematical model considering cell formation, inter-cell design and production planning under a dynamic environment (i.e., product mix and demand are changed in each period) is presented. Therefore, reconfiguration b...

Achieving Fast BGP Reroute with Traffic Engineering Using Multiple Routing Planes

In today's BGP routing architecture, traffic delivery is in general based on single path selection paradigms. The lack of path diversity hinders the support for resilience, traffic engineering and QoS provisioning across the Internet. Some recently proposed multi-plane extensions to BGP offer a promising mechanism to enable diverse inter-domain routes towards destination prefixes. Based on thes...
